Making Curriculum Pop

from Edutopia:  Do you wish your students could better understand and critique the images that saturate their waking life? That's the purpose of visual literacy (VL), to explicitly teach a collection of competencies that will help students think through, think about and think with pictures.

This is a fantastic resource. Thank you.

A couple of other interesting things in re visual literacy

1. text and font - white on page. students are very sensitive to this and many publishers seem to be putting fewer words and more white space on pages in novels

2. book covers - how do you choose a book? Covers with light colors, few words and one dominant image seem to be favored!
