I have a 4th Grade class who has been studying lines and angles. The students are going to design a Ukrainian Egg with those elements and would like to know if anyone else would like to join our project? I was thinking about having the students hand draw the egg, take a photo of it in Photobooth, mesh all the images together in a movie. While the movie shows the images have a student explain the project and define the elements in the egg that are being shown. This can even incorporate different shapes. I thought if others from around the world wanted to participate then we can begin to build a friendship to conference and work together on later projects.
Anyone interested? It would be a short and sweet, fun activity.
Melissa, this sounds great! You might also copy and paste it in the Elementary Educators - you might also change the title to something like "Math Collaboration - Ukrainian Egg Design" so people know you're looking for partners.
I direct the Enabling Support Foundation, a 5013c non-profit with a dual mission to support persons with disabilities and k-12 education. One of the sites we support is in the Ukraine and perhaps you would like to contact Tetyana Hrynkevych
