This is a TED talk about gender representations and media influence.  Colin Stokes asks for more movies that send positive messages to boys: that cooperation is heroic, and respecting women is as manly as defeating the villain.

Yes - I saw this the other day and thought it was a nice presentation pushing discussion towards more critical media literacy. I found his point about warrior woman characters to be one of the most interesting. And his comparison of Wizard of Oz to Star Wars is a cool example of comparing ideologies of the pre-WW2 America with the post counter-culture America.
