September 27-29, 2010
Grand Rapids, Michigan

The 2nd annual GRCC Peace Studies Conference will be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, September 27-29, 2010.  Scholars from all disciplines are invited to submit
proposals related to this year’s theme: Conflict Resolution: Challenges, Successes, and Failures of Supranational and International Organizations.  We invite presenters from a wide range of fields and disciplines to share ideas and research related to international cooperation, globalization, oppression,
colonialism, violent and nonviolent resistance, human rights, and the creation of sustainable peace.

Papers and arranged panels addressing this year’s themes are welcome.  We encourage comparative work across regions and historical eras.

If you are interested in presenting a paper, please send an abstract of approximately 200 words and your curriculum vitae by May 1, 2010, to
Dr. Robert M. Hendershot (rhenders@grcc.edu). Please include your address, email, and phone number.  Those interested in commenting on a session may send a CV and indicate their areas of expertise.

Paper presentations may be 30 minutes in a 2-paper session and 20 minutes in a 3-paper session. Sessions will last 90 minutes. Full panel proposals are especially welcome.

The conference will be held at the Wisner-Bottrall Applied Technology Center (ATC) on the main downtown campus of the Grand Rapids Community College. These facilities are within easy walking distance of many of the city’s museums, restaurants, and hotels.  The conference dates coincide with the Grand Rapids ArtPrize contest (http://www.artprize.org), so we recommend that hotel
accommodations be reserved early.  Grand Rapids is served by most major and regional airlines.
