In a society where obesity is the cause of so many health issues, if we focused on PE being a way for students to learn and play games that could lead to LIFETIME activity I think we could be better served.  So many students are getting limited exercise opportunities during the school day, when PE becomes another Academic area with written tests, graphing exercises, etc, the student does not see modeled how ACTIVITY is an important part of life.

I have absolutely no problem with math and vocabulary being included, but testing during PE seems too much.  If the PE teachers worked with the Core Academics teachers and developed an Integrated Unit that used the information from PE into writing or math class, I would be happier.

It is my plea to let kids PLAY - PLAY=LEARNING

Very great points!
