Making Curriculum Pop

The British newspaper The Guardian has a pretty cool Guardian Teacher Network and, while you do have to sign-up with a password and all it is a super interesting resource and worth your e-mail. From their last e-mail blast...

Dear Colleague,

In 2002 he was voted as the fifth greatest Briton in history, he was arguably the best and certainly the most prolific writer of his time and can be counted as one of the best playwrights ever - arise William Shakespeare, the Bard.

The rudest man in England

But according to Guardian Teacher Network contributor Sarah Jane Swann, William Shakespeare was the rudest man in England.

Teacher Sarah Jane has put together a teaching resource on William Shakespeare of epic proportions - both in terms of length and sheer creativity. It is a presentation guaranteed to get all pupils - even the most fervent Shakespeare haters - coming back for more.

For starters there's the Shakespeare Insult Kit (which also features a guest appearance from the A Team's Mr T), which leads onto exercises in mind-mapping Shakespeare, writing spells for Macbeth and modern love poems Tinie Tempah would be proud to have in his collection. And there is, of course, some serious analysis too.

Sarah Jane uploaded the resource onto the Guardian Teacher Network this week - and is very keen to get some feedback, so please do take a moment to add your comments to her resource.

In the spirit of educational fair use I tried to attach the whole ppt below but it is too big - so if you want to check it out you need to register at the links above to access the whole resource!
