Making Curriculum Pop

Hey NYC Folks,
Saw this "Interactive Smell Map" by Jason Logan in the Times yesterday and thought it could be the basis of a cool assignment (in NY or elsewhere), encouraging students to smell-around their neighborhoods and perhaps build their own maps (or a class map)? I know we'll be trying to connect neighborhoods in the BX through smell this fall!

Let me know what ideas you come up with to use this in your classroom!

Cheers,
Lauren

What a tremendous way to use the senses. I have to think about using this idea. We use visuals and listening assignments...so why not smell?
Lauren,

This is a super cool resource - thanks for sharing - I'm sure lots of peeps were down besides me and my mom :)

I'm really excited to use this as part of my "maps and memories" unit this September.  We're also going to be creating our own maps, shared maps, looking at interesting historical maps, artistic maps and whimsical maps!  Thanks for posting :)
