My students are organizing a youth summit that will combine hip-hop, social activism and social movements, and any unconventional arts integration. The summit is titled "We Are Everywhere", motivated by the book with the same title about anti-globalism movements around the world. The event will be held at our school, the Multicultural Arts School in Chicago, on May 21 and we are hoping to attract 300-500 youth from the Chicago area. One of the projects that my Popular Kultures classes is working on is called UHipHop Global, where they will research hip-hop community work in different regions of the world, and report back who and what they have found to other participants at the summit. Please visit the summit's blog at commonstruggle.blogspot.com or email us at call.action@yahoo.com!
