Thanks so much for sharing these John!!!
This link is great, I'm actually starting a PSA project with my students but it stems from viewing Hotel Rwanda, Blood Diamond and reading Maus I and II. Plus looking into current status in Darfur. Anyone know of other sites or links to other PSA's (about anything ) that would be powerful examples to show the students?

For the project the students use Video Cue to develop their PSA.

Also sometimes (due to school filters) the students have trouble finding powerful images. Aside from general google searches, are there any websites that are a good source for photographs regarding themes from the texts above? I have some but I'm always looking for more ideas.

I dunno about image banks BUT the google image search is key - there is also a neat feature called the google Wonder Wheel that will help students search.

Also for Blood Diamond and Hotel Rawanda check out these old posts -

I love these projects. How did you obtain copyright permission for the music? Did the kids have bibliographies?
The students predominantly used garage band.

Some used music that is in the program and combined different pieces to make their own soundtrack. Other students went to the "freemididatabase" which has instrumental of tons of songs that you can download as an mp3 file and then drag into Garage Band - some students found a song and then edited it in garage band.

Finally they imported their song from garage band to powerpoint and timed the music to the slides.

They turned out really well!!

I have moved the PSA projects to a YouTube page that I created for my 12th grade Public Policy class...

Public Policy Class: PSA Projects

The "Imagine" video was recently incorporated into a school presentation/assembly on genocide and another student PSA on volunteerism received this response...
