CHILD IN FILM
Films with children as educational tool?
The Film & Education Research Academy at Teachers College announces
a special presentation by
Prof. Ulf Abraham
University of Bamberg, Germany
Dr. Petra Anders, Respondent
University of Bremen, Germany
In movies, children have stopped depending on adults and begun to explore their own possibilities and to struggle for their identity, self-esteem and morality.
Ulf Abraham explores how such movies can be used as a tool in education.
Prof. Abraham holds a doctorate in German Literature and a Chair in the “Pedagogy of Language and Literature” within the German Department of Bamberg University. He has conducted and published research on literary learning and on the writing and reading skills of students of all ages. His books include an influential introduction to teaching German literature (Literaturdidaktik Deutsch, Erich Schmidt Verlag 2009). Another recent publication is on the use of film in the teaching of German.
Light refreshments will be served
