Great article, Maria Montessori said the same thing about classrooms years ago. We weren't listening! I generally take the approach technology should parallel good classroom teaching and management. I think that having your smartboard on all the time, with images fluttering and moving may drive some kids nuts. Droning on in a monologue will drive others doo-lally! So we do need to think about preserving our thinking, a little quiet never hurt anyone.

Hi Caitlin - thanks so much for sharing. This looks AWESOME do consider moving your wall post up above us BECAUSE (drum roll) that way your question has a URL and a "reply feature."
Unfortunately, big resources on the comment wall (here) are not easy to respond to and get buried over time.

When you post a ? or resource in a special interest group discussion forum - your "affinity group" peeps can give you feedback. Also, because diss forum posts have URLs it will be archived AND I can broadcast the question to the whole Ning for the Week in Review!
So you know - post up if you're down - this is a great call! Ry:)
PS - hope TC is treating you well!

CALLING ALL PARTICIPANTS!

It's here again~

3 Minute Media presents the Second Annual Teachers College Social Issue Media Festival. The festival is an opportunity for you to voice your opinions on a social issue of your choice.

So what's social issue media? For the purposes of this festival we are referring to digital, multimedia artifacts (e.g., video, audio podcast, digital story) that call raise awareness about a social issue with the intention of evoking social action.

So how do you participate? It's pretty simple:
- Open to anyone (If you are under 18 years old, parent permission is required)
- Entries must be submitted by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2011 (DEADLINE EXTENDED)
- Entries must be under 3 minutes in length

All entries are eligible for jury awards!

For more information and complete participation guidelines, please visit us at http://www.socialissuemediafest.org/ or email us at 3MinuteMedia@gmail.com

Hi Sharanda - this is a great question. Unfortunately, big questions on the comment wall are not easy for folks to respond to and get buried over time.

Would you consider moving this question up right above this to the discussion forum? When you post your ? above your "affinity group" peeps can give you feedback. Because forum ?s have URLs it will be in there for the next person with a similar ? AND I can broadcast the question to the whole Ning on crowdsource Tuesday.

Re: Edmodo - you might write this person in particular (Erin) as she was on a Ning with her classes and now uses Edmodo - she had some thoughts about that interface.

I am looking into using either Edmodo or Schoology with my students.  I used a little of both this past year but not enough to make up my mind clearly.  Any suggestions on how to make the choice?  A pro/con page?  Anything to help me make a decision since the new semester begins next week!
