Reality Central: Student Readings About Popular Culture

While attending a recent curriculum conference, I stumbled upon these books inside the conference exhibit hall. Pearson has produced several grade-level texts entitled "Reality Central." Each book includes several units which include readings,and assessments.  The philosophy and purpose is described as:
Reality Central consists of an anthology of accessible nonfiction articles on edgy and often debatable topics for struggling readers in grades 6 through 10. The Real World Writing Journal and the Teaching Guide and Resources are companions to the student anthologies. The topics in the student anthology are relevant to students’ experiences and serve as motivating factors for reading and discussion.
