I love the idea for the group - it is like an extended crowdsource question. On the flipside I wonder if the resources here are very simmilar to what folks would share in the Identity: Gender, Race, Sexuality & Other Tricky Stuff group. Do check that group's discussion forum out and see if there are helpful resources in there as well!

What events, people, or books do you study that incorporate diverse thinking?

I CAN think of short films... was it intentional that you didn't include short films? Short films are so immediately engaging. We're all about this very thing -- using great shorts to start discussion about cross-cultural understanding in the classroom. One fave (one our "people's choice" a few years back is called "A Land Called Paradise." This one's also on YouTube, but you can download notes for it free thru us (free sign-up and download notes). There's one tricky scene for students younger than about 15yo, but some wouldn't worry because of the context & overall message.

Another, called Restare Uniti (Stick Together) is about anti-Italian racism in Australia during WW2. We'll be featuring that free soon (it was one of our runner-ups), but for now you need to sign up with paid account to access. Very moving. Beautifully told story, 11mins long.

"Hope" is another that explores the idea of, particularly those with different beliefs. Made by a student, too, which is good.

Well that's a start!

Would love to hear if others have found good stuff like this online too.

I know many teachers are using these films in particular in Australia for expanding student's understanding, tolerance, and general awareness of other cultures & faiths -- particularly in Christian schools here.
