And of course you might also dig Newt G's proposal for poor kids to clean toilets (brilliantly explored on the daily show) - unfortunately that is NOT satire.

I didn't see any allusions there yet but MC POP member Luke Rodesiler runs the use Use Your Allusion! wiki. Your allusions could be added!! it is very cool.

Tegan, thanks for sharing that tip! Also reminds me - David Bowie's album Diamond Dogs is a quasi-adaptation of the novel.

Hey, if anyone is interested in assembling a rock opera version of 1984, consider using Muse's song "Resistance" which includes the lyric "Quell your prayers for love and peace, you'll wake the thought police/ We can hide the truth inside" and functions quite well, overall, as a love song for Winston and Julia.

I don't know if y'all are the the Making Shakespeare Pop group but you might want to check out the Wordle Allison Branch created for Julius Caesar (at the bottom of the discussion)! The strategy is certainly something you could crib for the characters in the novels/stories you are teaching.
